Future of Work in Manufacturing Part 3: Sustainability in Manufacturing

1463617670

Sustainability is essential for both the environment and the longevity of manufacturing businesses. Best practices include sourcing from sustainable vendors, reducing waste, optimizing energy, and using predictive analytics for efficient operations.

Sustainability Prioritization Declines by 4% Among Workers

Only 45% of manufacturing workers viewed sustainability as a high priority in 2024, down from 49% in 2023. In contrast, 61% of managers in 2024 saw sustainability as a critical focus, reflecting a 2% increase from the previous year. This growing gap between worker and manager perceptions—now at 16%—suggests that sustainability efforts are more recognized at the leadership level, but may not be as visible or impactful among frontline employees. Enhancing communication and involvement in sustainability initiatives could help bridge this divide.
